The night I almost didn't come back
I still don't remember the ambulance.

The doctors call it a grand mal seizure. I call it the night my body made a decision without me.
I don't remember falling. I remember a kitchen light that looked too bright, and then strangers' faces and the cold of a hospital room. Somewhere in between, I almost died.
It felt like nothing, and that is the part that frightens me most.
People ask what it felt like. One moment I was making plans. The next, someone else was making them for me.
I came home with a bag of prescriptions and a body I no longer trusted.
